My Trip Home-Part 3...Puppies

This pretty momma was quite the mom while I was home.  She had 7 beautiful golden retriever puppies around the middle of June, so by the time we arrived they were about 6 weeks old.  They were the highlight of my parent's backyard for more than just our family.  People from church would bring their kids and grand kids by to play with the puppies and cousins would come over to let see them too.  They were quite the popular little puppies!

Maggie had 6 girls and 1 boy.  I think that is the boy pictured with her above.  It was REALLY hard to tell any of the puppies apart as they were all light blonde except for one darker one that all the kids named brownie.  My parents ended up keeping her as a playmate for Maggie and the have since changed her name to Ruby.

Seriously, these puppies were so fun!
Even sick and grouchy Liam got excited with the puppies.

The kids would go out and check on the puppies first thing in the morning with bed-head and all...these cute little things were the priority!

I have already posted this picture, but it is too adorable!  Underneath this deck was their safe place when they wanted to sleep or they felt their lives were in danger with all the kids :)

 Here is sweet little Ruby!
Katelyn, Jake and Morgan liked to help feed the puppies and Maggie too.  We all wonder how many pieces of dog food those kids tried out while we weren't watching...we will never know!

Jake and Katelyn would sometimes get smothered by excited puppies and they learned to push them away.  Katelyn really liked Maggie though because Maggie listed to Katelyn as she told her to sit, go, lay down, and "pum" (come) and enjoyed having someone that listened to her orders.

Good job Mommy Maggie!  Those puppies were planned perfectly and couldn't have been more fun!  I felt so bad for her as all 7 of those puppies would nurse from her and climb over each other to get a good drink...those sharp puppy teeth made us all wince and cringe!  And then as Maggie would run to chase a ball her milk jug hanging from her belly would swing out left and right further than her hips to the motion of her running...she needed a nursing bra to hold herself together!  I thought nursing one child was admirable, but hands down, Maggie is more of a trooper than I ever will be!  Those puppies were cute, but I sure am glad it was her responsibility and not mine!!
