Another Month

Our little girl is growing up!  She hit the 4 month mark last week!  It is still so young, but she is learning so much and changing so much that we almost forget how she used to be.  

She had her second round of immunizations and did so well.  She was laying there staring down her rattle when they poked her.  She looked up at me, and frowned and let out one little wimper.  She got distracted from crying by her rattle and was okay.  Then they gave her the second shot and was a little more mad this time.  She looked like she was trying to figure out what was going on and cried a bit.  The third one came before she was focused on her rattle, and she was so sad :(  She had her down brow and her frown in full force as she cried.  Luckily not screaming, just really sad.  The last one was squirted in her mouth and she loved it and tried to suck out as much as she could get.  She was happy again :)

She is still growing.  She weighed 16 pounds 4 ounces. . . which is in the 93rd percentile.  She is a heavy girl for her age.  She isn't as tall at only 24 inches which is in the 35th percentile.  Her head. . . I don't remember. . . nothing abnormal.  So she is getting thick, but not too tall. . . we love all her squishiness though. . .  LOVE it!  The doctor said she's lookin good!  Still a good eater!
As we were moving we had all the pictures and mirrors off the walls.  Katelyn is really good at sitting on her own and LOVED sitting in front of the mirrors.  She would stare herself down and reach out and touch the mirror.  She probably doesn't realize it is herself yet.  She will reach for the toys in the mirror not realizing it is in her own lap.

 She is a very good sitter.  No rolling over yet.. . . close, but not yet . . which the doctor said might be because "she is on the bigger side" . . . that should help right?  Like a rolly polly?  He must be crazy! :)

 Sometimes it is a little too hard to stay sitting.  She will lean a little bit too far and. . .

 . . .down she goes!  This usually scares her a little bit.  She doesn't hit hard, since she's "on the bigger side of things".  Gotta love being squishy right?

 Ok. . . so she doesn't really love it and wiggles around to her belly and will look around very worriedly for help. . . .

. . . . and gets very sad that I am there, but offering no help. . . just taking pictures of her being so helpless and cute.

 Don't worry. . . She gets LOTS of loving!  We love smooching this squishy little girl and she doesn't seem to mind.  She will let out a couple deep belly chuckles. . . you know the one when someone is tickling you so much you want them to stop, but you love it all at the same time and don't really want them to stop?  That's the one :)
She likes touching, licking, holding, squeezing and contorting things to figure out what they are.  When I smother her with kisses, my hair is all over the place.  She pulls it and moves her fingers through it to see what it is.  So lately my hair has been a little crazier and a little more slobbery, and its not my fault.

 She loves faces too.  Any time she can reach, she will do all of the above to my face.  She puts a hand on each cheek and goes to town.  She gives very nice "kisses". .. . some look like this. . .

 . . .. and I am very glad she doesn't have teeth yet!  Others are a little nicer like this. . .

 Here she is with her hands on my cheeks, giving me her special kisses.  I LOVE them!

She is much more in control of her movements now.  She likes to lay on her back and pull her feet up to play with them.  Instead of her arms flailing around and hitting her toys that hang above her, she reaches and grabs them and examines them now.

She is very curious about things that make noise or that light up.  Things like our cell phone, electronic toys, things that make noise when she scratches them, wrapping paper, noises from our mouths, all sorts of things.  She stares them down and focuses on them to figure them out.
She likes to suck on her fingers.  She rarely finds her thumb.  Usually she finds her other fingers first.

She is very expressive with her face. She stares strangers down and they all try so hard to get a smile out of her, but she rarely gives in.

Her hair is still very thick around the back of her head and thin-ish everywhere else.  She has a lot more hair than a lot of babies though so I should be happy.  She wears headbands a lot as my way of "covering it up" plus she is so stinkin' cute with them on.  Don't worry though. . . I don't do any flowers bigger than her little hands.

She is very vocal.  She likes to talk when I am talking and will stop when I stop and just look at me like she didn't do anything.  She just jabbers away on her won sometimes too.  She has figured out how to do the really high pitched sounds which she likes to use when she gets excited and when she's been left alone for too long.  She has figured out that her tongue helps her make new sounds too.  

She seems to be loving trying to figure out everything that's going on around her.  She is very fun and sometimes we just can't get enough of her.
